Agnes Dhatemwa
Agnes is a feminist lawyer with diverse range of skills, including but not limited to: Project planning and management, proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, public speaking, advocacy, financial management, budgeting, documentation as well as report writing.
She currently works with FIDA-Uganda under the Legal Aid department where she ensures that that women, children and persons with disabilities access justice through Alternative Dispute Resolution, follow ups and Legal representation. Also, through her work she has been able to build an inclusive, grassroots women’s movement, led by dynamic individuals, women’s rights advocates and organisations, with the advocacy and lobbying capacity to demand women’s rights and gender justice, which is critical to stimulating greater legal and economic equity, from the family and household levels to the national and regional arenas that is essential to the development and implementation of progressive social policies which in turn ensures that Sustainable Development Goal 5 on greater equality and empowerment for women and girls is achieved.
She hopes that the work she does in the institution will contribute towards challenging and dismantling structural inequalities and building policies and practices that are pro poor.
As an individual, Agnes demonstrates the willingness to work with others towards shared goals that are consistent with the organisation’s objectives, thus facilitating an environment of team work and mutual trust.
